Rachel Green Horn is Head of Marketing and Communications at Filecoin Foundation (FF) and Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web (FFDW). In these roles, she focuses on fostering and growing the Filecoin community, promoting Web3, and preserving humanity’s most important information through decentralized technologies. In 2022, she was recognized by the Women's Crypto Organizing and Investment Network as a leader in cryptocurrency.
Rachel joined FF and FFDW in 2021 from Protocol Labs, an open-source research, development, and deployment laboratory, whose projects include IPFS and Filecoin. As the company’s first communications hire, she drove the public relations strategy around the successful 2020 Filecoin mainnet launch.
In 2022, Rachel launched the Filecoin ecosystem’s first major global gatherings, FIL Austin and FIL Lisbon, while also building robust online communities across social media platforms for builders, storage providers, and storage clients. She has earned coverage of FF and FFDW’s work in publications including CNBC, Fortune, Politico, Axios, The Washington Post, and CoinDesk.
Rachel transitioned to the Web3 space after more than a decade of marketing and communications experience with media, tech, and financial institutions. She has produced major exhibitions at conferences around the world, including CES, Web Summit, SXSW, and in Davos around the World Economic Forum – leading operations, content, marketing, and public relations.
In 2018, Rachel edited the national bestseller Ninja Future: Secrets to Success in the New World of Innovation, authored by Gary Shapiro. She began her career at The Atlantic magazine, where in 2004, she served as editorial assistant to French philosopher and author Bernard Henri-Lévy.
Rachel holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Michigan, and a Master’s of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University.
She’s based in Alexandria, Va., where she occasionally hosts concerts in her backyard.
